Heart Disease Screening

According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Blood pressure and cholesterol levels, in addition to weight, diet and activity level, are key factors in determining your risk for heart disease. An annual well-woman visit with an emphasis on cardiac care keeps you informed about your risk level and enables you to act quickly when changes appear.

Well-Woman Visits

A well-woman visit is a preventative service tailored to you specific health concerns and needs. Like a typical annual physical, your physician will check your overall health, which may include checking your blood pressure, cholesterol, heart rate, etc.

Well-woman visits also include screenings unique to women. Depending on your age, health history and family history, you may receive the following services:

  • Mammogram
  • Breast cancer screening
  • Pelvic exam
  • Pap smear / cervical cancer screening
  • Bone mass measurements / osteoporosis screening

Annual well-woman visits reduce the risk of an ailment going unnoticed for an extended period of time and increase the effectiveness of treatment. Well-woman visits are more than just tests and screenings; they are a time for you to ask questions and take control of your preventative healthcare.
