Medical Biller/Coder – Full Time and Part Time available

The Certified Biller/Coder plays a crucial role in our family practice, ensuring accurate coding of medical procedures and efficient billing processes. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and knowledge of medical terminology.

Salary Range: pay is based on experience
Location: St. Johns

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze patient records and assign appropriate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments
• Submit and process insurance claims, ensuring maximum reimbursement for services provided
• Review and verify that documentation supports diagnoses, procedures, and treatment results
• Handle patient inquiries about bills, provide explanations, and set up payment plans when necessary
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures for accurate coding
• Conduct audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal regulations
• Stay informed about coding guidelines and changes in the medical field through continuous training

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
• 0-2 years of experience as a medical billing and coding specialist
• Proficiency in medical coding systems such as CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with medical billing software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Occasional weekends as needed
• 40 hours per week expected
